 2. Sprout Social

Sprout Social’s all-in-one scheduling dashboard gives you the freedom to seamlessly switch between social platforms and manage them more effectively. Integrating with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube, you can work across your entire presence in a single platform. Plus, you can also manage reviews from sources like Google My Business and Facebook, and create shoppable posts integrated with Facebook Shops and Shopify catalogs.

You can queue up your posts in advance, providing opportunities to optimize tags and captions for each platform with ease. Sprout’s ViralPost feature ensures that you publish your content when your followers are most likely to engage, boosting visibility and reach automatically.

Beyond planning a comprehensive social strategy, responsiveness is a top priority for marketers today. Sprout’s Smart Inbox guarantees that you don’t miss any messages from your audience.

The Smart Inbox compiles all your incoming messages from different social media platforms, giving you a complete view of all your social interactions. You can also search for specific messages using branded keywords or tag filters. This is particularly useful when it comes to dealing with customer service concerns.

Sprout lets you show the value of your social strategy with comprehensive analytics and reporting functionality. In addition to helping you identify the most relevant hashtags for your content, you’ll find plenty of ways to break down insights into your performance at large.

For example, you can track your audience growth, impressions, post engagement and link clicks across social in one place

These data points highlight your most engaging content and top-performing platforms. In turn, you know the types of content your audience wants to see and where they hang out. The custom URL tracking feature in Sprout Social gives you a more in-depth insight into how your posts are performing in terms of referral traffic and conversions.

Pricing: Sprout’s “Standard” plan starts at $89/mo per user.

3. Post Planner

Naturally, a big part of your social media is your own content, but a great way to fill in gaps and ensure you’ve always got interesting content going out on your channels is to share other content that is relevant to your industry. The problem with that is, finding the right content that fits your audience and that is likely to actually result in increased engagement can be incredibly time consuming.

Instead, you can use PostPlanner to help you find awesome content that is already performing well on social media. Find the best content, schedule it, and see how it performs! PostPlanner can handle all of that if you want it to (or you can simply find the content and then use another tool to schedule it if you already have a preferred tool).

We like PostPlanner because of how much time it will save you. When it comes to content marketing, the majority of your time should go towards developing your own quality content, not searching the Internet. PostPlanner takes over that role for you, and allows you to schedule those posts at optimized times to help even further the potential for engagement.

4. Loomly

Loomly is an ideal tool for small social teams and agencies looking to master the art of collaboration.

In addition to social media management features, the platform also boasts features to help marketers wrangle their projects. This includes calendars, deadlines and workflows.

As an added bonus, Loomly actually generates ideas for your social media content strategy based on trending topics and social conversations. The affordability of the platform is a huge point in its favor, as is Loomly’s clean, easy-to-use interface.

Pricing: “Base” plan starts at $25/mo for two users.

5. Brand 24

Brand24 is the next social media engagement tool on our list. Brand24 provides you with access to brand mentions across social, news, blogs, videos, forums, reviews and more.

Brand24 is focused on helping you manage your brand’s reputation online. It’s a great monitoring tool that comes with features like hashtag tracking, automated sentiment analysis & competitor tracking.

Summing Up: As its name suggests, Brand24 lets you be on top of every brand mention all the time. It lets you go beyond your social feed to listen to what people are saying about your brand. There’s a learning curve for this tool, and it can be a bit difficult to use compared to some other tools on this list.

6. Planable

Planable describes itself as “the easiest collaboration tool on the planet,” promising 6x faster approvals for teams juggling social media tasks.

With an emphasis on workflows and approvals, this is yet another tool meant for agencies eager to reduce bottlenecks. Features such as one-click approval between you and your clients make for near-frictionless collaboration.

Although there are few truly free social media management tools out there, Planable does offer a generous 50-post free test period for marketers on the fence.

Pricing: “Starter” plan begins at $33/mo; your first 50 posts are free as part of the platform’s trial.

7. OneStream

The past few years has seen a major increase in live video. People love it! It is a great type of content to incorporate into your social media marketing strategy, but let’s face it, it isn’t always convenient. Instead of finding the perfect time to record your live stream, why not pre record it and stream it at the optimal time? You can do that with OneStream!

Research shows that people will watch a live video three times longer than a pre-recorded one. Instead of live streaming at 2am when you finally have time to record, you can use OneStream to produce quality ‘live’ video content, and then schedule it to stream at a better time.

We recommend scheduling your live videos for various times in order to see what results in the best engagement rates. Maybe your audience is comprised of night owls and they want to watch your live video at midnight! Or, perhaps you find the best results posting around 7pm when people are home from work, or 12pm while they are at lunch. You won’t know unless you try. OneStream makes it far easier for you to try out various times without having to actually stream live at those times. Record your video at a time that is convenient for you, and stream them whenever you want!

OneStream connects with most of the major social media platforms that have live video capability- including YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

8. NapoleonCat

NapoleonCat lets you manage social media interactions on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Google My Business from one social media inbox. It helps you improve your response rates by monitoring all incoming messages in real-time and handling them swiftly.

NapoleonCat offers some pretty helpful features to help you track the performance of your social customer service team. Using these reports, you can grow your social media team’s performance and get better results!

Summing Up: NapoleonCat’s automation features give it an edge over some of the other tools in our list. It also offers pretty decent team collaboration utilities and supports all the major social media networks.

9. Zoho Social

Zoho Social is one of the best social media management tools for team collaboration.

The app allows you to start discussions, share reports, create team roles and encourage feedback. This makes it super easy to get everyone on board with your updates, strategies and performance insights.

In addition to scheduling, the platform has its own optimized timing features similar to Sprout. Zoho Social also has built-in Instagram scheduling, allowing you to publish posts and repost user-generated content straight from your desktop.

And similar to HubSpot, instant integration with Zoho CRM and the ability to monitor customer interactions is a huge plus.

Pricing: “Standard” plan starts at $10/mo: “Premium” plan with full features (including CRM integration) starts at $40/mo.

 10. IFTTT

We have discussed If This, Then That (IFTTT) in the past when we rounded up our favorite marketing automation tools. It made our list again for social media engagement tools because it is so useful, quick, and best of all- free.

Part of what makes social media marketing so time consuming these days is that there are so many different platforms to keep up with. A tool like IFTTT helps make it easier to keep all of your platforms updated with recent posts. Previously, we discussed the ‘recipe’ that will share your Instagram post on Twitter to look like a native post (instead of that annoying Instagram link that no one clicks on). The result? Better engagement without having to spend any more time!

Another recipe we like (as shown above) will upload your Instagram posts to an album on Facebook. This is a quick and easy way to share your content on multiple platforms in order to maximize your engagement potential without having to manually upload your photos to numerous places. One and done! We love a good time saver, and IFTTT is just that.

As a conclusion to this comparison, you can easily decide whether or not a certain tool is the right one for your business. Maybe that’s Hootsuite, maybe it’s Buffer, maybe it’s Sprout Social – but you have to do your research first! Thanks for reading and I hope you found this list useful.
