How grow your email marketing list can be a challenge for any business. I’ve received thousands of emails over the past 3 years from companies all over asking how to grow their email marketing list. This includes businesses from all different industries and niches. Whether you’re using cold outreach, running an affiliate program, or anything else, growing your email marketing list is an important step to growing your business.

Growing your email marketing list is a key component of growing anything from an eCommerce shop to a podcast. When it comes to growing a list there is always one question that you should ask yourself: “why am I doing this?”. In short, you grow your list because the more people on your list, the more likely they are to buy from you. Now, if money isn’t a motivation for growing your mailing list then that’s fine and dandy. You could be doing it just to give them exclusive content or access. Either way, there are four ways one can go about growing their mailing list:

Create a lead magnet.

You can generate more email subscribers by creating a lead magnet. A lead magnet is an offer that people can get in exchange for their contact information. You can create a lead magnet in many different ways, from offering a free ebook to giving away a discount on your product or service.

To create your lead magnet, you’ll need to decide on the type of content you want to offer. For example, if you run a pet store and want to attract new customers who own cats, you might decide to offer a free ebook about how to train your cat.

Once you’ve decided what type of content your lead magnet will be, it’s time to create it! There are many different ways you can do this: some platforms require you make the content yourself while others allow you to upload existing documents or images.

Include a sign-up form on your website.

This is the most obvious way to get people to subscribe to your email list, and it’s really easy to do. You can use a tool like SumoMe or MailChimp, but you can also just create your own using the HTML code that you find on the Internet.

  • Send emails with offers and discounts on your products or services.

If you have something new that you want to promote, then let people know about it! Send them an email with information about what they’re getting and why they should care. You could also send them discounts or free shipping codes for their purchases if there are certain items that they’ve been looking at recently.

  • Use social media posts to share links that encourage people to sign up for your email list (or whatever else they might be interested in).

If someone follows you on Instagram or Twitter, then they’re probably interested in what you have to say—and if not, then at least they’ll be able to tell their friends about how funny/cool/amazing (etc.) your account was! So always make sure that there’s a link somewhere on every post for people who want more information about something related

Use your Facebook page to build your list.

If you are using Facebook to market your business, you can also use it to build your email list. The easiest way to do this is by creating a custom audience from people who have engaged with your posts, ads, or other content on your page.

To create a custom audience for your email list, go to Ads Manager and click Create Audience under the Audiences tab. You’ll see an option for Custom Audience; click that and select Create New Audience.

Then select the People Who Seem Interested In Your Page option, and select the types of posts they’ve engaged with (such as likes or comments).

Once you’ve selected those options, click Save & Exit. You’ll see that new audience added under Custom Audiences; now all you need to do is create an ad campaign using that audience!

If you want to grow your email marketing list quickly, start with Facebook ads.

A Facebook ad can be a great way to attract new subscribers to your email list. You can create an ad that’s specific to your target audience, and then use it to promote a landing page where people can sign up.

This is especially effective if you have a product or service that’s relevant to a specific niche—for example, if you’re selling handmade jewelry, then you could target users who have shown interest in that kind of jewelry by targeting them through their interests on social media platforms like Facebook.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on these ads—just set aside enough money so that you can get good quality leads (around $5 per lead).

Invite subscribers with Instagram

Instagram is a great tool for you to use to grow your email marketing list. If you want to build your email list and market your products, you need to start by promoting your Instagram account.

Run a contest on Instagram. You can run an Instagram contest by asking people to take a photo of themselves holding up or wearing your product, and then tag them in it with a special hashtag. When they do this, they will be entered into the contest and have a chance of winning something (like a free product or gift card). When running an Instagram contest, be sure that there are clear rules about what people need to do to be considered for the drawing/giveaway so that things run smoothly for everyone involved!

Promote new products through Instagram. If you have new products coming out soon, consider creating posts on Instagram that feature those products and include links where people can find more information about them easily online (like an email sign-up form). This will help build up hype around your upcoming release so that when it happens everyone is excited about it!

Run ads to grow your list.

The best way to start building your email marketing list is by running ads. You can run ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Google. The best way to do this is by creating a campaign in Facebook Ads Manager and then setting up your ad. The goal of the ad should be to drive people to a landing page where they can sign up for your newsletter or other information you want to share with them.

It’s also important to make sure that your landing page is optimized for conversions as well as easy for people to find what they’re looking for. If someone lands on a page that doesn’t have an obvious signup form (or any information at all), they may leave before signing up, or even worse: forget about you entirely!

Create a customer referral program.

Asking your customers for referrals is one of the most effective ways to grow your email marketing list, but it’s also one of the most overlooked. Many businesses don’t actively promote their referral programs, but doing so can help you start to grow your list fast and easily.

There are two main benefits of running a customer referral program: first, it allows you to reach out directly to your customers and get them involved in helping you spread the word about your business; second, it gives you access to a pool of potential customers who have already shown an interest in what you have to offer.

The first step in setting up a successful customer referral program is finding ways that customers can refer their friends or family members. You could offer money off their next purchase if they refer someone new; or if they refer enough people over time, they might receive free products or services. Whatever strategy you choose, make sure it aligns with your brand and encourages customers to share their experience with others while still benefiting from the program themselves.

Focus on Quality over Quantity

It’s tempting to grow your email marketing list as quickly as possible. But that’s not the best way to approach it—especially if you’re just getting started.

Instead, focus on quality over quantity. When you have a few thousand people on your list who are interested in what you have to say, they’ll be much more likely to open your emails and click through. And then they’ll be more likely to buy whatever it is you’re selling!

So how do you get those people? Start with your existing customers: they’re already familiar with your brand and know what they get when they sign up for your emails. Plus, they might even be willing to refer friends or family members who might also be interested in what you have to offer!

Once you’ve got a few thousand people on there, start thinking about ways that you can reach out beyond your existing audience. If any events are coming up that relate directly to your business (like trade shows or conferences), consider sending out an email blast about them. Or partner with another company that shares similar interests—you might have a mutual clientele and could reach them together through event sponsorship or a joint mailing campaign!


Successfully growing your marketing list is all about consistency. Don’t be too concerned about putting a lot of effort in every time you send out a newsletter or make an email outreach. Instead, just try to put in enough work overtime that each piece of content works together to grow your subscriber list by clicking over to your website.
